Shelter Evaluation Services
Does your animal shelter need help with solving problems or developing solutions to operational issues? Does your animal shelter want to learn how to prevent diseases like parvo? Does your animal control need guidance in starting a free spay/neuter program or implementing a foster home program?
LifeLine's shelter evaluation and consulting services can help!
Founded in 2002, LifeLine's approach is to foster collaboration by providing needed lifesaving services that will benefit all animal welfare groups, particularly grassroots rescue groups and government animal control agencies.
LifeLine's shelter evaluation team is a group of nationally recognized animal welfare leaders. Our accomplishments include management of a large urban animal control shelter, offsite adoption center, large foster care program and low-cost, high-volume spay/neuter clinics and assistance programs. Team members bring proven results to animal control shelter management:
- Increased animal control shelter adoption rates by 550%
- Reduced euthanasia rates by 70%
- Drafted and implemented shelter and field Standard Operating Procedures
- Controlled parvo in shelters where outbreaks had been a serious problem
- Mobilized rescue groups to save lives
- Provided humane education and community outreach
- Facilitated thousands of free spay/neuter surgeries for pets of low-income county residents
- Implemented high-volume transport programs
Shelter Evaluator Susan Feingold evaluated the Weatherford/Parker County Animal Shelter in September 2012. Since then they have implemented about 80% of our recommendations and plan to continue to implement almost all of the rest of them. Among the two hundred odd recommendations were things like: having adoption promotions with reduced fees, promoting those special event adoptions and posting animal pictures on Facebook. Here's an article about their success with doing just that! They have recently reported back to us that since they have implemented the recommendations, among other things, the incidence of disease has drastically decreased, operations are much smoother and they have gone from a live release rate of 52% to a live release rate of 77%! The full report can be read here.
We can provide a full shelter evaluation, evaluate only one particular program or consult on a variety of areas. If needed, we can even implement new procedures or new programs at your shelter.
