May was another great month for Atlanta's homeless animals! We held our Healthy Pets DeKalb event at Wade Walker Park, where we provided free vaccinations, spay/neuter vouchers, microchips, pet supplies and more to DeKalb County residents. We hosted a fee-waived adoption event over Memorial Day weekend, where we celebrated 189 happily-ever-afters. And we launched our #Squats4LifeLine campaign, where we challenged Atlanta to do 10 squats for LifeLine or donate $10!
Our county shelters in Fulton and DeKalb saw an increase in intake when compared to last year. And even with high intake, both of our county shelters achieved the no-kill threshold; Fulton was able to acheive an 90% lifesaving rate and DeKalb was able to achieve a 93% lifesaving rate. But there is still so much more work to be done. And we need your help to save every healthy and treatable animal in the Atlanta area. Here are three things you can do to support Atlanta's homeless animals:
- Temporarily foster an adult shelter dog or cat: From fun-loving hiking buddies to low-key besties, we are sure to have a pet to fit your lifestyle.
- Donate canned food: Our shelters are always in need of canned dog, puppy and kitten food to help us feed our neediest animals. You can drop off at a shelter location nearest you or donate from our Amazon Wishlist!
- Participate in #Squats4LifeLine: Looking for a fun way to help animals? Help us spread the word. Post a video asking your fellow animal lovers to do 10 squats with their rescued pet or donate $10 to LifeLine Animal Project.
